Title Love U Brisbane
Dates 4 - 6 September 2008
There was a time, a tale of two cities, of conflict, of a T-shirt with a heart of green. Will Brisvegas “cease-and-desist?” Will NYC “fugeddaboutit”?
Jazz on New York time, the nostalgia of Brisbane’s coming of age, fifteen hours and two degrees of separation. It’s high time to celebrate the icons of Bristopia with a wink and a smile, to drag out the big tunes and delve into the burbs. Composer and Topology member Robert Davidson join Photographer Henri van Noordenburg and Collusion in telling a few yarns, tales from Brisvegas.
Two Roads In Green Pasture Landscape
January 2004
BRISBANE POWERHOUSE CENTRE FOR THE ARTS.
Two Roads in Green Pasture Landscape is an extension of Henri van Noordenburg’s successful 2003 production at the Brisbane Powerhouse, exploring the account of a young man’s journey from his childhood home to a new beginning in a strange, foreign land.
This contemporary theatre production entwines visual elements of past and present with poetic and humorous narrative to explore notions of perception, isolation, distance and transience.
Van Noordenburg’s own journey from the Netherlands to Australia in his early twenties provides the essence of this production, as well as his own collection of still images, video and sound recordings.
Two Roads in Green Pasture Landscape expands upon the 2003 ‘work in progress’ of the same title, to include further observations of the people, places and politics that have shaped van Noordenburg’s life in Australia.
Van Noordenburg’s personal account intends viewers to contemplate the importance of their own individual stories and the transforming power of personal dreams and aspirations.
Also featured in this production are van Noordenburg’s haunting and critically recognised photographic images from his European background.
